Gaps in Public Awareness of P.A.D.

Study Finds Few Americans Aware of Peripheral Arterial Disease
Findings Reinforce Need for National Efforts to Educate Americans on Peripheral Arterial Disease

Three out of four people aren’t aware of peripheral arterial disease, according to a study conducted by the P.A.D. Coalition and published in Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association. The Coalition announced the results of the study at its Fourth Annual Meeting held September 18, 2007 in Washington, DC.

Health professionals, the media, the healthcare industry, and government agencies share a responsibility to work together to inform the public about this common cardiovascular disease that affects nearly every American family.
